Just 25 days ago, the 27-year-old damaged a hamstring tendon during a game against Chelsea at London Stadium.
At the time, fans of David Moyes and the Hammers learned that Zouma could be out for at least 12 weeks (The Guardian).
The Frenchman had such a big impact at the London stadium following his £ 29.8million transfer from Chelsea. So losing him has been a huge blow to our hopes of claiming a top four spot this season.
West Ham have really struggled during Zouma’s absence, especially with Angelo Ogbonna also out for the season.
However, it looks like there might be some good news on the horizon …
Kurt Zouma’s injury complaint will put a big smile on the faces of West Ham fans
Claret and Hugues says the big Frenchman is already back in training on grass and could be back in action by the end of January.
High-level Hammers insiders say that one of their sources told them that after deciding not to have surgery, Zouma is making much faster progress than expected.
David Moyes will be desperate to get the 27-year-old back into action as soon as possible.
That doesn’t mean we don’t need to sign a center-back in the January transfer window, though.
West Ham still needs a lot more strength at depth in this particular department. Even if Zouma returns in the next three or four weeks, it should not be forgotten that Ogbonna will be 34 years old before the start of next season.
And adding a top center-back in January would set us up well for the next few years.

That said, Zouma’s return to action will be a very welcome boost for the Hammers anytime.
