Arsenal reporter Charles Watts called Granit Xhaka’s injury against Tottenham Hotspur the “only downside” to their derby victory.
The Gunners let off steam in a cozy victory 3-1 over their North London rivals, after a scintillating first half in which they scored all of their goals.

Can Arsenal count on Granit Xhaka this season?

“He was on the pitch after the celebrations, Xhaka, but he was clearly limping, I think he will see a specialist today or tomorrow to really assess that.
“It depends on the extent of the swelling around the knee, and once that goes down, a specialist can obviously have a CT scan and Arsenal will find out the true extent of that injury, but [a] a little disturbing there.
TIF reflections on Granit Xhaka and Arsenal…
At one point in the summer, it looked like the 29-year-old was certain to leave the club, with Roma most likely to sign him. However, no deal could be reached and he remains with Arsenal for the time being.
After his reckless dismissal against Man City it would have been easy for Arteta to keep Xhaka out as a punishment, but it shows how much confidence the Spaniard needs to have in the midfielder to get him back into the squad for such a big match.
