Expert issues ‘massive’ claim for Dasilva after development

Josh Dasilva could now ‘throw massively’ and fulfill his high potential at Brentford after reaching pre-injury levels of fitness and sharpness.

That’s the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injuries and data analysis.

Dasilva came off the bench for Brentford in their 2-2 draw with Leicester (August 7) to equalize four minutes from time.

Speaking after the match and quoted by The Athletic, Bees boss Thomas Frank insisted the goal was “very emotional” after the midfielder’s 18-month fitness battle.

The Dane claimed Dasilva is ‘back to the level we know he is at’.

The former Arsenal youngster has battled a serious hip and hamstring injury for the past 18 months – having managed just two starts since March 2021.

Dinnery insisted Dasilva, who scored 16 goals and nine assists in 89 league games for the Bees, is now in the right window after his initial return last season.

“He is held in very high esteem by Thomas Frank and Brentford,” he said Football Insideris Ewan Kingsbury.

“He came back to the first team in February earlier this year, and that three-month period has been an opportunity to replay himself in the team.

“It was important for him to get those minutes and get a feel for the Premier League – as his last involvement for Brentford was at the second tier.

“Now we know that with players coming back from long-term injuries, it’s not in the first three months that you expect players to return to pre-injury levels.

“It’s the four or five months, and beyond. He had a good off-season, a good pre-season – and that’s where we got to see him massively get going.

“Hopefully he realizes that potential that Frank talked about.”
